Honorary Membership Awarded to Susie Stringer

ASRA is delighted to announce that Susie Stringer has been awarded Honorary Membership at Conference 2026, in recognition of her outstanding contribution, long-standing commitment, and lasting impact on the association and the wider student accommodation sector.

Susie’s journey with ASRA spans many years and reflects a deep-rooted dedication to the organisation. At a time when ASRA was facing a period of transition and needed additional support from volunteers, Susie stepped forward to take on the challenging role of Secretary. In doing so, she played a key part in helping to stabilise and rebuild the association, providing vital support and energy during a pivotal period in ASRA’s development.

Known for being consistently present, prepared, and ready to get on with the job, Susie has always been a driving force behind the scenes. Her willingness to support the wider team and contribute wherever needed helped lay the foundations for the strong, collaborative ASRA community we know today.

I have a lot to thank Susie for, she encouraged me to get involved in ASRA at a time when I was still learning about the sector, and she took the time to help me understand it properly. Her support made a real difference to my journey

Susie joined Unite Students in October 2014 as London University Operations Manager, bringing with her valuable university and accommodation office experience. Her expertise in university processes and nomination agreements has since played an important role in strengthening understanding and delivery across the sector.

Beyond her professional expertise, Susie is widely recognised as a trusted colleague and a genuinely caring individual. She is often the first to check in on others, ensuring colleagues feel supported, particularly during challenging times. Her warmth, empathy, and sense of teamwork have made a lasting impression on all who work with her.

One colleague reflected that Susie “understands universities, their processes, and especially how nomination contracts work from both sides, helping ensure agreements are delivered effectively. More importantly, she is a trusted colleague and an even better person.”

Susie’s contribution to ASRA and the wider sector is both significant and enduring. This Honorary Membership is a fitting recognition of everything she has given to the association over the years.

We are proud to celebrate Susie’s achievements and extend our warmest congratulations on this well-deserved honour. We look forward to seeing her continued involvement in ASRA, and, of course, to her leading the line dancing at future Conferences!
